Melinda Warren. Melinda Warren was the first witch in the family and the creator of the Book of Shadows. When her secret was discovered, the people in her town decided to burn her at the stake. Melinda did not attempt to protect herself for fear that her daughter Prudence would then be persecuted. Melinda was killed, but Prudence was taken in by a kind family, and the Warren line continued. Hundreds of years later, the Halliwell sisters called her to the future so that she could aid them in the vanquishing of a warlock named Matthew. They were successful and the sisters reluctantly cast a spell to send her back to wherever she had come from.
